Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Drop Bury Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of underground fiber optic and telecommunication infrastructure. Your expertise will help ensure reliable network connectivity for residential and commercial clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, operate equipment, and contribute to vital IT infrastructure projects that keep communities connected and businesses running smoothly.
Position Details:
This is a subcontractor 1099 position. techs are paid solely by the work completed and billed. All subcontractors must carry general liability insurance. We do have an insurance partner that can help set up coverage. techs also must be able to work out of their own personal vehicle. A late model, presentable van or truck is preferred. Responsibilities Operate shovels, spades, and other misc. equipment to safely dig trenches and install underground cabling. Install, splice, and maintain fiber optic cables, ensuring high-quality connections for telecommunication networks. Use hand tools and power tools to prepare trenches, lay cables, and secure infrastructure components according to schematics and technical specifications. Conduct routine inspections of underground cabling and network infrastructure to identify issues or potential failures. Collaborate with team members on construction sites to ensure safety protocols are followed during all phases of installation and maintenance. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including cable splicing logs, schematics updates, and incident reports. Adhere to safety standards related to electrical work, climbing procedures, and construction practices in all tasks performed. Experience Proven experience in field service roles involving telecommunication or cable installation projects. Knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and telecommunication wiring standards. Ability to read schematics related to electrical wiring and network infrastructure layouts. Experience working in construction environments with a focus on underground cabling or electrical systems is preferred. Experience working outdoors in various weather elements. Those with landscaping or construction experience in general are encouraged to apply. We can teach the right person the fiber splicing skills needed for the job.
