Job Description
Company Overview Needs to be able to work flexible shifts including main shift overnights Monday through Thursday 6pm-4am . Shift Differential in addition to base wage for overnight hours. We are seeking a motivated Telecommunications Apprentice to join our team, with a structured training pathway to become a skilled Splice Technician. Job Summary The Telecommunications Apprentice will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper cables. This entry-level role offers hands-on training and mentorship, with a clear progression plan to develop expertise as a Splice Technician, specializing in cable splicing and network connectivity. Key Responsibilities Assist experienced technicians in installing, testing, and maintaining telecommunications cables (fiber optic and copper). Learn and perform basic cable preparation, termination, and splicing tasks under supervision. Support the setup and operation of equipment used for cable installation and testing, such as fusion splicers and OTDRs. Conduct site surveys and prepare work areas for telecommunications projects. Follow safety protocols and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment. Document work activities, including cable layouts and test results, as directed. Participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction to build technical skills. Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition. Provide support during emergency repairs and service restorations.
Qualifications Experience :
No prior telecommunications experience required; entry-level candidates encouraged to apply.Skills :
Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools. Willingness to learn technical skills, including cable splicing and testing. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Good communication skills to work effectively in a team. Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in confined spaces.Education :
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in electronics, electrical work, or related fields is a plus.Attributes :

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship (typically 1-2 years), transition to a Splice Technician role, with opportunities for further specialization in areas like network design or advanced troubleshooting. Preferred Qualifications Basic knowledge of electrical systems or telecommunications principles. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (if required for fieldwork).
