Job Description
Some Jobs Pay the Bills. This One Builds a Career. We're Looking for the Best. Is that you? Cypress Communication Systems is looking for an apprentice who wants to be exceptional, not just employed. We are a structured cabling and low-voltage contractor based in New Mexico, and we take our craft seriously. Our team installs, troubleshoots, and maintains the voice, data, and security cabling infrastructure that keeps schools, businesses, and facilities running. It is precise work, physical work, and detail-oriented work. We like it that way, and we think you will too.
Who thrives here:
The people who have built careers at Cypress share a few things in common. They sweat the details. They show up for their teammates and expect the same in return. They bounce back when a job gets hard, because jobs get hard. They have goals they are actually working toward. They take pride in doing things right the first time. They can laugh at themselves when they mess up and learn from it when they do. If that sounds like you, keep reading. What you will do:
You will work side by side with our Lead Installers from day one, getting hands-on with every part of the job: pulling and terminating cable, installing hardware, and reading drawings. The instincts that make a great technician only come from doing the work, and you will be doing it. Expect to be challenged, expect to grow, and eventually expect to be the one showing the next apprentice how it is done. What we are looking for:
- High school diploma or GED
- Above-average mechanical aptitude
- Strong attention to detail
- A team-first attitude (we take care of each other)
- Resilience, this work requires it
- A genuine desire to learn and grow in the trade
- A valid New Mexico driver's license
- Ability to procure your own basic hand tools
- Prior construction experience is a plus, but not required Physical requirements:
- Able to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
- Able to distinguish colors and read small print
- Able to travel within New Mexico and the southwest region as needed What we offer:
- Competitive pay with excellent earning potential for the right candidate
- Fully paid enrollment in the ABCNM Telecommunications Technician apprenticeship program, a 3-year program that includes a minimum of 432 hours of classroom instruction and 6,000 hours of on-the-job training. We invest in your credentials because we want you here long-term.
- Health and dental insurance

- Paid holidays and PTO This is not a job for people who want to coast.
