Job Description

Working Knowledge is seeking a skilled and reliable Structured Cabling Technician with a foundational understanding of networks to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems including voice, data, fire, security, access control and cctv systems in commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Structured Cabling Technician Installation, termination and testing of copper and fiber optic cabling including multi-conductor, composite, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, SM & MM Fiber. Install and mount network hardware including patch panels, switches, routers, , and racks. Install field devices including wireless access points, cameras, access control door hardware, fire alarm devices, etc Installation of cable pathway development, raceway and attachments. Interpret and follow network blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Label and document cabling infrastructure for future maintenance. Manage materials and inventory for assigned job sites to prevent delays. Perform basic troubleshooting of network connectivity issues. Work with IT team members to support system rollouts or upgrades. Maintain tools and equipment in good working order. Ensure work is completed in accordance with safety and building codes. Complete daily reporting tasks, compile certification results, sign-offs, and close-out documentation. Required Qualifications High School Diploma/GED 2 to 5 years' experience with the proper pulling techniques for all category cable, coaxial cable, fiber optic cable (experience desired, not required) and high pair count copper backbone cabling. Ability to fully interpret and work from project drawings Strong understanding of proper attachment hardware, mounting procedures and raceway construction. (i.e.: Panduit, Wiremold) Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Solid understanding of typical cabling standards Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Physical Ability :
Must be comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces (plenums/crawl spaces), and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Certification :
BICSI Technician (INSTC/INSTF) or equivalent manufacturer certifications (e.g., Corning, CommScope, Panduit) are highly preferred.
Reliability:
Consistent attendance and a "finish the job right" work ethic. This is a full time, W-2 position. Typical starting hourly wage is $25-$70/hr DOE, shift, availabilty, relevant experience, jobsite location, etc. 40 hours PTO after 6 months 8 hours PTO after each additional 6 months 8 hour floating holiday Life insurance and 401k benefits available. This is an immediate start position. This is not a contract position. This work is for typical commercial construction (usually indoors) at various locations throughout Western New York and surrounding areas.
