Structured Cabling Technician - I

Position:

Structured Cabling Technician Level 1

Location:

New York 10016

Shift:

Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

Rate:

$24-$27 hourly

Duration:

2-month contract (+ extensions) Day‑to‑

Day Responsibilities:

Handle daily patches, moves, adds, and changes (MAC work) Triage and manage service requests, incidents, and tasks via ITSM tools (Heat / Ivanti) Assess cabling needs and coordinate pricing with certified vendors Schedule, execute, and close out cabling work orders Support cabling work across hospital and off‑site locations Monitor and maintain BDF/IDF closets, including: Cleanliness and cable management Power and cooling conditions Best practices and standards compliance Identify risk to services and escalate issues appropriately Data Center / Technology Room Support (with DC Ops): Support devices within Technology Rooms Assist with vendor access and supervision Maintain secure access to IT spaces Manage asset inventory in IDF/BDF environments Update and maintain rack elevations Support devices using tools and assist with basic automation where applicable

Vendor & Operational Support:

Assemble vendor work order packages Track work orders through completion and closure Provide troubleshooting support and emergency coverage as needed Must‑

Have Experience:

1+ year of experience in a Structured Cabling role within an enterprise environment Hands-on knowledge of BICSI standards and how they are applied in the field Experience with copper and fiber patching and standard cabling schemes Basic networking and desktop systems troubleshooting skills Exposure to UPS / power and cooling systems in IT support environments Experience supporting change management events (shutdowns, service‑impacting work)

Pay:

$24.00 - $27.00 per hour
