Installation Technician — Syracuse Technologies Syracuse, NY About us Syracuse Technologies provides critical technical products and services to organizations throughout the Northeastern United States. We install the IT and audio/video systems that small and mid-sized businesses, professional service organizations, and municipalities depend on every day — and we're growing. About the role As an Installation Technician, you'll install IT and audio/video cabling and equipment in commercial, industrial, and office environments. That means running and terminating data and voice cable, mounting and configuring security cameras, door access systems, and large displays, building server racks, and setting up the technology our clients run their operations on. You'll work both independently and alongside a team, travel to client sites across our service area, and help estimate the time and materials our projects require. What you'll do Install, terminate, and test cabling for voice, data, audio, and video to a top-tier standard Install wireless networking equipment Build and maintain enterprise-grade server racks and enclosures for critical IT hardware Set up computers, monitors, printers, scanners, phones, and related equipment Troubleshoot technology and computer systems within scope Read and follow manufacturer installation specifications Collaborate with off-site support and technicians Conduct client walk-throughs and document existing conditions Train clients on the systems you install and build strong professional relationships Operate boom and scissor lifts as needed Document installations with photos and notes Safely load, transport, and unload tools, materials, and equipment Keep inventory stocked and your workspace organized Take part in ongoing product training and follow all company and OSHA safety standards What you need Hands-on experience with low-voltage cabling, security camera installation, or access control — ideally 2+ years, but we'll consider strong candidates with less who can demonstrate the right skills and work ethic Solid skills with hand and power tools A basic set of personal tools appropriate for this type of work (we'll provide specialty and job-specific tools as needed) Reliable personal transportation to get to our shop and job sites on time (we provide company vehicles for fieldwork, but you need a dependable way to get to and from work) Basic understanding of computers and networking Physically able to lift, push, or pull up to 60 lbs and work on ladders and lifts A valid driver's license and clean driving record A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a client-focused, get-it-done attitude Willingness to take direction, learn continuously, and grow What we'll teach you You don't need to walk in knowing everything. You should be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, and lift throughout the day, and perform repetitive motions with your hands and wrists. You'll occasionally exert up to 60 lbs of force and regularly move objects up to 10 lbs. The work demands focus, attention to detail, and safe operation of tools and equipment. Travel & attendance Regular on-site attendance is required at both company and client locations. Some regional travel is required, including occasional one- or two-night hotel stays. Out-of-state travel is rare but may occasionally be required.
