Operations FLSA :
Exempt Location :
Central Florida Region (Tampa, Sarasota, Orlando, Daytona) •This is a remote position with the expectation that this Technician will travel to job sites as needed across Central Florida. Position Summary The LV & Systems Technician is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, configuring, and troubleshooting low voltage cabling and integrated building systems across commercial, multifamily, and technology-driven projects. This role spans structured cabling (Cat6, coax, fiber — including fusion splicing) with Fluke certification, plus device-level installation and commissioning of access control, video surveillance (CCTV), audio/video (AV), Wi-Fi, intercom, and related systems. The Technician executes work per plans, specifications, and quality standards while supporting Foremen and Project Managers and maintaining strict adherence to safety requirements. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Key Duties and Responsibilities Install, terminate, test, configure, and troubleshoot low voltage cabling and integrated systems on assigned projects. Install, route, and secure low voltage cabling including Cat6, coax, fiber, and other structured cabling types. Perform industry-standard Cat6 terminations (RJ45, keystone, patch panel) with high accuracy and consistency. Terminate, polish, and/or splice fiber optic cabling; support fusion splicing activities as directed. Operate and run Fluke DSX cable certification tests, upload results, and verify compliance with project specifications. Install supporting hardware, cable pathways, J-hooks, racks, ladder trays, patch panels, and related components. Install, mount, and terminate access control devices (readers, locks, REX, door contacts, controllers) and pull head-end equipment to the rack. Install and aim CCTV cameras (IP and analog), mount NVRs/DVRs, verify PoE, and confirm camera views with the foreman or PM. Install AV components (displays, projectors, speakers, mounts, control devices) and pull/terminate associated HDMI, audio, and control cabling. Install and mount Wi-Fi access points, switches, and intercom/entry systems; verify PoE, link, and basic connectivity. Support system commissioning and turnover — assist with device labeling, point-to-point checks, and punch list resolution. Read and interpret basic drawings, cable schedules, and labeling standards. Document daily work completed and communicate progress or field issues to the Foreman. Follow safety standards, maintain a clean work area, and use proper PPE at all times. Protect company tools, equipment, and materials; report damaged or missing items immediately. Support Foremen with any tasks needed for successful completion of the project. Minimum Qualifications Proven experience in low voltage system installation, maintenance, and repair. Demonstrated experience in structured cabling installation and termination. Proficiency in Cat6 terminations (jack, patch panel, and field-end terminations). Ability to operate a Fluke DSX tester and understand pass/fail criteria. Experience with fiber termination or willingness to be trained. Familiarity with basic hand tools, power tools, and test equipment. Ability to work in construction environments, on lifts, ladders, and elevated areas. Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills. Hands-on experience installing one or more building systems — access control, video surveillance (CCTV), AV, Wi-Fi, intercom, or fire alarm. Comfort with basic IP networking concepts — PoE, IP addressing, switch port verification, and using a laptop to confirm a device is online. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Located in or willing to work in Florida (Central or South Florida). Skills Strong understanding of structured cabling practices and EIA/TIA standards. Ability to follow drawings, labeling standards, and installation best practices. Troubleshooting abilities for low voltage systems. Good communication skills and ability to work with Foremen and other team members. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to complete tasks with minimal rework. Comfort using mobile apps and tools for daily logs, timesheets, and documentation. Working knowledge of building systems — access control, video surveillance (CCTV), AV, intercom, Wi-Fi access points, and entry systems. Basic device-level configuration — rack mounting, power-up, physical IP/PoE verification, and clean handoff for system commissioning. •Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee of this job.
