Job Description

Overview Join our team as a Drop Bury Technician and become a vital part of deploying and maintaining essential telecommunication infrastructure. In this energetic role, you'll be responsible for safely installing, burying, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables and network infrastructure in the field. Your expertise will help ensure reliable connectivity for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with heavy equipment, utilize technical skills, and contribute to cutting-edge IT infrastructure projects. Duties Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and trenching machines to excavate trenches for cable installation Install, bury, and secure fiber optic cables following schematics and technical specifications Perform fiber splicing to connect fiber lines efficiently and accurately Use hand tools and power tools to prepare sites, install cabling, and complete construction tasks Conduct network infrastructure work including Ethernet wiring, LAN setups, and low voltage cabling Climb poles or structures safely to install or repair telecommunication equipment and network hardware Read and interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and wiring diagrams to ensure precise installations Perform routine maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot issues related to telephony, WAN (Wide Area Network), LAN (Local Area Network), and electrical systems Maintain detailed records of work performed, including site logs, schematics updates, and incident reports Ensure all safety protocols are followed during excavation, cable handling, and equipment operation Requirements Proven experience in field service roles within telecommunication or construction environments Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, trenchers, or similar machinery safely and effectively Knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and telecommunication cabling standards Familiarity with computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN/WAN configurations, and low voltage systems Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, electrical testing devices, and schematics reading Experience working at heights through climbing or pole work with proper safety measures in place Strong electrical experience with low voltage wiring, power tools operation, and electrical safety practices Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot network infrastructure issues quickly Physical ability to perform demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions Nice-to-have skills include experience with IT infrastructure installation, telephony systems setup, fiber splicing certifications, knowledge of schematics interpretation, climbing certifications, and familiarity with computer networking hardware.
