1099 Data Cable Technicians, Fiber Splicers & Spotters - Abilene, TX (Long-Term)

New Construction Project Overview We are hiring Low voltage Data Technicians, Fiber Splicers, and Spotters for a long-term, ground-up build in Abilene, TX. This project offers steady hours, long-term work, and employer-provided lodging for non-local candidates.
Work Schedule Standard:
5x9s (45 hours/week)
Mon-Fri Shift:
Primarily Day shift - Night Shift is tentative
Compensation & Logistics Pay:
Weekly flat rate (DOE - based on experience)
Lodging:
Provided for non-locals
Travel:
Possible reimbursement for travel or relocation (case-by-case)
Per Diem:
Not offered. Accounted for in compensation.
Time Off :
UTO - Advanced notice - UTO days not paid Scope of Work (SOW) Structured Cabling Installation and termination of Cat6, Cat6A, Cat7, and Cat8 cabling Cable pulling in overhead trays and underfloor systems Routing, dressing, and securing cables Installing cable pathways (J-hooks, ladder racks, tray systems) Installation of CCTV and telecommunication devices Fiber Optics Single-mode & multi-mode fiber installation Fusion splicing Testing using OTDR, power meters, and light sources Troubleshooting and documenting fiber networks Maintain splice logs and documentation Termination & Testing Copper termination (RJ45, UTP, STP, Coax and patch panels) Fiber termination (LC, SC, MPO/MTP preferred) Testing with Fluke or equivalent tools Labeling and documentation per standards Rack & Stack / Buildout Rack and cabinet installation Mounting switches, servers, and patch panels Cable management and routing Grounding and bonding systems Equipment & Safety Working at heights using: Scissor lifts Boom lifts Spotting for lift operators Following lockout/tagout procedures and site safety standards Position Responsibilities Data Technicians Cable pulls, terminations, testing and device installation Rack and stack Ability to read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams Assists in other areas as needed Rack build outs and pathway installs Basic network knowledge and skill sets to complete data tasks Fiber Splicers Perform fusion splicing and testing Skill set of data techs with knowledge of cabling standards Assists with data and spotter scope as needed Maintain splice logs and documentation Troubleshoot fiber issues Spotters Support lift operations and maintain jobsite safety Assist crews with materials and general tasks Required Qualifications OSHA 10 (minimum) (OSHA 30 a plus) Experience in construction or data center environments preferred Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights Reliable transportation Preferred Certifications (Not Required) OSHA 30 Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Aerial Lifts Fall Protection

Fiber Certifications CompTIA Certifications (E.G. Network+) Manufacture specific certifications Work Environment New construction large scale building Indoor jobsite with active construction conditions Work at heights and in tight spaces Ideal Candidate Safety-focused, respectful and dependable Engages and commits to the team, developing others through feedback, coaching and mentoring.
