Job Description Job Description Structured Cabling Technician - Dallas, TX Oteka Technologies is looking for hardworking, dedicated, outstanding technicians for Voice and Data cabling who would like to grow with us and are very interested in a business that takes good care of its employees and its customers. Should have experience with the installation of Cat6 and Cat6a cabling, coaxial cables, racks, cabinets, and cabling infrastructure. Responsible for cabling and termination of data networks, fiber optics, alarm, and access control. The position includes the testing and troubleshooting of wiring problems and assisting other operations departments with project and maintenance requests.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Termination and testing of new cabling and installation of associated hardware(J-Hooks, Cable Tray, etc.); Setting up new telecommunications and data frames; Knowledgeable in structured cabling and other advanced technologies; Ability to read, understand, and measure from floor plans; Ability to estimate materials required for the various cabling projects; Remove abandoned cable; Run all cabling within the guidelines outlined in the National Building codes and standards; Installs and terminates telephone cabling, including multi-connect telephone twisted pair and other voice-grade cabling systems. Installs and terminates data communication cabling, including fiber optics and unshielded twisted pair. Tests and troubleshoots problems with structured cabling systems. Attends plan review meetings to review structured cabling requirements for construction projects. Responsible for working with Facilities Planning and Institutional Services, Safety, and Environmental departments on all jobs. Assists in the development of specifications for structured cable systems. Work with Telecom and networking for the design of systems. Responsible for the design layouts needed for permitting required by the Shelby County Code. Maintains a record of time and material used on a job. Prepares reports related to job duties
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three (3) years of experience in the service and repair of telecommunications, data, and security equipment and installation. Voice and Data Cabling Lead technician: Works within the constraints of time, materials, et cetera. Performs related duties as required. Salary based on experience.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Should have the ability to perform diagnostic troubleshooting and analysis. Should have the ability to operate a computer. BICSI Certified Level 1 or greater - preferred. Should also know about terminating structured cabling systems according to the
TIA/EIA568 & 569
standards, and know building codes. Should have the ability to climb ladders and lift heavy equipment, as well as knowledge of the equipment and tools used in structured cabling, basic plan reading, and basic math and reading comprehension. Should be able to have a great relationship with team members and clients.
