Our field team supports new office build-outs, remodels, low-voltage cabling, network infrastructure, cameras, audio, and related technology installations. Job Summary Legend Networking is seeking a Field Installation Technician 2 to join our field installation team. This is an intermediate-level field role responsible for independently completing low-voltage installation work, supporting wire-outs and build-outs, installing network and low-voltage equipment, building network racks, and performing basic onsite troubleshooting. This position is ideal for a technician with prior low-voltage, network cabling, AV, security, or commercial installation experience who can complete assigned work with limited supervision and communicate professionally with clients, general contractors, vendors, and internal team members. The Field Installation Technician 2 works under the direction of a Lead Technician, Field Tech 3, Project Manager, or Projects/Installation Manager. Responsibilities The Field Installation Technician 2 will be responsible for: Running, routing, dressing, labeling, and terminating CAT6 cable according to company standards. Terminating CAT6 cable using keystones and RJ45 connectors. Installing routers, switches, NVRs, wireless access points, receivers, cameras, speakers, and related low-voltage equipment. Building, organizing, mounting, and installing network racks. Maintaining clean cable management and professional installation standards. Completing assigned wire-outs independently or with limited supervision. Supporting build-outs, remodels, and equipment installation projects. Mounting cameras, TVs, speakers, access points, and other low-voltage devices. Performing basic onsite troubleshooting for issues such as cameras not powering on, speakers not playing, access points not working, cable/termination issues, and power or connectivity concerns. Identifying jobsite issues, missing information, damaged materials, or scope concerns. Escalating issues when they are outside assigned authority or technical ability. Communicating job progress, schedule concerns, and onsite updates to project leadership. Interacting professionally with clients, general contractors, vendors, and other trades. Providing required jobsite notes, photos, updates, and completion details. Supporting Field Tech 1 technicians by modeling proper work habits and assisting with basic task direction when appropriate. Following company installation standards, jobsite safety rules, and documentation expectations. QualificationsRequired Qualifications Prior experience in low-voltage, network cabling, AV, security, construction, or field installation work. Ability to run, label, and terminate CAT6 cable accurately and consistently. Experience terminating keystones and RJ45 connectors. Working knowledge of common network and low-voltage components such as switches, routers, NVRs, access points, cameras, speakers, and receivers. Ability to build and organize network racks. Ability to perform basic onsite troubleshooting for cable, power, device, and connectivity issues. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, testers, and installation tools. Ability to complete assigned work with limited supervision. Strong attention to detail and commitment to clean, quality work. Professional communication skills with clients, general contractors, vendors, and coworkers. Reliable transportation to assigned jobsites or company meeting locations. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of low-voltage, network cabling, AV, security, or commercial field installation experience. Experience completing wire-outs independently. Experience installing routers, switches, NVRs, wireless access points, cameras, speakers, and receivers. Experience building and dressing network racks. Experience working in commercial construction environments. Ability to read floorplans, marked-up drawings, or project scopes. Basic understanding of IP networking concepts. Experience using cable testers, tone/probe kits, labelers, and basic troubleshooting tools. Experience communicating with general contractors, clients, vendors, or other trades onsite. Physical Requirements This position requires regular physical work in active commercial jobsite environments. The technician must be able to: Lift and carry tools, ladders, cable boxes, equipment, and materials. Climb ladders and work from elevated positions. Pull cable through ceilings, walls, conduit, and commercial spaces. Work above ceiling grids and in confined or awkward spaces when necessary. Stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, crouch, and work with hands for extended periods. Mount equipment to walls, ceilings, racks, and other designated surfaces. Work in environments that may include dust, noise, unfinished construction areas, and variable temperatures. Safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, testers, and jobsite equipment. Follow company and jobsite safety procedures at all times. Work Environment The Field Installation Technician 2 works primarily in the field at client locations, commercial construction sites, dental offices, medical offices, and other business environments. Work may include new office wire-outs, build-outs, remodels, equipment installation, network rack installation, camera systems, audio systems, and project support. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on technician who can complete quality installation work with limited supervision. This person understands low-voltage cabling, network equipment installation, rack organization, and basic troubleshooting. They communicate clearly, work professionally around clients and contractors, and take ownership of completing assigned work correctly. This position is a strong fit for someone who is ready to move beyond basic installation work and continue developing toward a lead technician role.
Pay:
