This role is responsible for fiber termination, testing, troubleshooting, equipment installation, and infrastructure build-outs while ensuring compliance with safety standards and project requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with fiber optic systems, data center hardware installations, blueprint interpretation, and structured cabling practices. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform physically demanding technical work are essential for success in this role. Job Responsibilities Perform cable infrastructure installations and fiber rough-in activities. Install, dress, label, and manage structured cabling systems. Terminate fiber optic and copper cabling connections. Install and configure single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems, including ST, LC, SC, and SC-APC connectors. Conduct fiber certification and testing using Fluke and OTDR equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve fiber optic connectivity and performance issues. Rack, stack, and install customer equipment within data center environments. Build and configure server racks and rack elevations. Install fiber trays, ladder racks, cabinets, and related infrastructure components. Complete infrastructure installations, including cable management systems, fiber tray systems, ladder racks, and power trays. Receive, inventory, and assemble materials and hardware as required. Perform Outside Plant (OSP) fiber installations and route fiber into data center facilities. Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, diagrams, and installation documentation. Communicate professionally with team members, supervisors, and stakeholders both verbally and in writing. Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), maintaining clean work areas, and complying with OSHA standards. Job Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Data Center Technician. Minimum of 2 years of fiber optic installation and maintenance experience. Experience with fiber termination, testing, troubleshooting, and structured cabling systems. Knowledge of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic technologies. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Active OSHA 10 certification preferred. Ability to work on ladders and scissor lifts and in confined spaces. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. Ability to stand and perform physical tasks throughout the duration of a work shift. Required hand tools include a multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose pliers, channel-lock pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, steel-toe or composite-toe work boots, gloves, and a tool pouch. Education High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Work Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Data Center Technician role.
