Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Cable Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex cabling systems across various environments. Your expertise in network wiring, fiber splicing, and telecommunication systems will ensure seamless connectivity and optimal system performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects that require technical proficiency and a proactive approach. Responsibilities Install, configure, cable, maintain, and troubleshoot IT equipment and audiovisual conference room systems supporting both legacy and new installations. Perform technical evaluations and recommend equipment upgrades, maintenance activities, and system improvements. Analyze conference room hardware, software, and transmission systems using diagnostic tools to ensure reliable operation. Monitor system performance, data traffic, and network resource utilization to maintain high-quality audio/video transmission. Provide professional, customer-focused technical support to executive-level and VIP users. Conduct preventative maintenance inspections, firmware updates, patching, and health checks for AV equipment. Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for conference room incidents and service interruptions. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving: Conference room displays Controllers Crestron systems AMX systems Cisco conferencing equipment Network-connected AV devices PC hardware/software VOIP systems Resolve assigned service requests and incidents within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Analyze technical issues using standard procedures, documented processes, and prior experience. Follow established policies, procedures, and customer requirements while exercising independent judgment. Communicate effectively with technical teams, end users, and customer stakeholders at all levels. Maintain documentation related to installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and system changes. Support 70V indoor/outdoor Public Address (PA) systems. Operate government vehicles, including 12-foot box trucks, when required. Required Qualifications Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to support technical and non-technical customers. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently with moderate supervision. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Valid driver's license and ability to operate government vehicles. Education & Experience Requirements Option 1: Associate degree (AA/AS) with 4 years of relevant experience Option 2: High School diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant experience Preferred experience: AV installation and maintenance Conference room technologies Network troubleshooting Cisco conferencing solutions Crestron/AMX systems IT service management processes Government or aerospace customer environments Work Location On-site support required at Johnson Space Center (JSC) during normal business hours.
