This is a senior-level position for someone who can take ownership of complex installations from rough-in through certification — not a learn-on-the-job role. You'll lead the buildout of MDF and IDF rooms, install support structures and cable pathways, and deliver expert-level copper and fiber work on large-scale commercial projects. What You'll Do Build out MDF and IDF rooms, including racks, cabinets, ladder rack, backboards, grounding/bonding, and cable management Install support structures and pathways: J-hooks, cable tray, conduit sleeves, innerduct, and firestopping at penetrations Pull, terminate, dress, and label Cat6/Cat6A cabling to industry standards Terminate, splice (fusion), and test single-mode and multimode fiber optic cabling Test and certify copper and fiber links (Fluke DSX or equivalent; OTDR and power meter/light source for fiber) Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and construction drawings Coordinate with general contractors, electricians, and other trades on active job sites Maintain accurate as-built documentation, labeling schemes, and test results Mentor junior technicians and help enforce quality and safety standards What We're Looking For 5+ years of structured cabling experience in large commercial facilities (office towers, hospitals, campuses, data centers, industrial) Deep knowledge of MDF/IDF design and buildout best practices Expert-level Cat6/Cat6A installation and termination skills Strong fiber optic skills: fusion splicing, connectorization, and OTDR testing Working knowledge of ANSI/TIA-568 and 569 standards and NEC requirements Ability to read construction blueprints and telecom drawings Comfortable working on active construction sites (lifts, ladders, PPE) Reliable transportation and ability to pass background check and drug screen Preferred Qualifications BICSI Installer 2 or Technician certification
