Job Description

General Diesel Repair & Chrome is a local, small business located right here in the River Valley with one of the nicest facilities you will find anywhere. We offer uniforms, onsite showers, washer & dryer, and our shop is both heated and cooled to keep our techs comfortable. We are growing with our brand-new location and looking for a Diesel Mechanic to join our team and be a part of the continued growth of our fast-paced business. We specialize in fleet repair and maintenance on a variety of commercial vehicles, flatbed, van and reefer trailers. Hiring Diesel Mechanic with 3+ years of experience
  • required
  • in all areas of diesel truck, and trailer repair. Key Responsibilities
  • Must take pride, ownership, and responsibility for all work.
  • Must be able to perform installation, maintenance, repair and replacement on medium/heavy duty diesel trucks and trailers in fast-paced environment as needed.
  • Maintain professional communication with personnel and customers.
  • Provide accurate diagnosis and estimates to customers.
  • Communicate efficiently with Parts & Inventory Manager to ensure proper inventory and parts needed are on hand and/or ordered.
Required experience with:
diagnostic scanners, tires, brakes, clutches, transmissions, A/C systems, alternators, starters, batteries, drive lines and differentials, fuel pumps, water pumps, radiators, check engine lights, cooling systems, electrical systems, hydraulic repairs, welding repairs, reefer unit repairs and services, routine maintenance, and annual inspections.
MUST:
  • Have good driving record,
  • Have own tools,
  • Have reliable transportation,
  • Have 3+ years diesel experience,
  • Have positive attitude, and good communication skills
  • Be willing to be on call afterhours if needed.
CDL is required. Supervisory experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and vehicles
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using automotive diagnostics tools
  • Repair and replace faulty components, such as brakes, transmissions, and electrical systems
  • Conduct inspections to ensure vehicles are in compliance with safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete repairs
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and team members to ensure efficient workflow
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines and their components
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems in diesel vehicles
  • Experience with automotive repair and maintenance procedures
  • Familiarity with power tools and their safe usage
  • Ability to perform brake repairs and replacements
  • Competence in using hand tools for various mechanical tasks
  • Understanding of air brake systems in diesel vehicles
