Job Description

Job Summary Cal Lowbed Service is seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Technician holding a valid Class B CDL. In this role, you will perform high-quality maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet of medium and heavy-duty vehicles and rental construction equipment. Your Class B license will be utilized to drive a service truck, safely test-drive vehicles, diagnose issues under real road conditions, and transport equipment between locations. Core Responsibilities Diagnostics & Repairs:
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake (including air brakes), and steering system failures across the fleet.
Preventative Maintenance:
Perform routine PM inspections, oil changes, fluid flushes, tire rotations, and safety checks to prevent breakdowns.
CDL Operations:
Safely operate, road-test, and transport Class B commercial vehicles to verify repair quality and diagnose operational issues.
Engine & Emissions:
Diagnose and repair diesel engines and exhaust/emissions systems (DPF, SCR) using computer diagnostic software.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate digital or paperwork orders detailing parts used, repairs performed, and labor hours.
Shop Safety:
Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment in strict compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
Qualifications & Requirements Licensure:
Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of professional diesel mechanic or medium/heavy-duty truck repair experience.
Technical Skills:
Proficient with computerized diagnostic scan tools and reading mechanical/electrical schematics.
Brake Certification:
Experience with Air Brake systems is highly preferred.
Tools:
Ownership of standard mechanic's hand tools and air tools required for running the service truck.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods in a shop/field environment.
