Baldwin Park, CA Job Summary:
The Diesel Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining late-model diesel engines and related systems for our growing fleet. This role requires expertise in diesel diagnostics, compliance with California BIT inspections, and strong problem-solving skills. The technician must be fluent in Spanish and English to effectively communicate with team members, drivers, and management.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostics & Repairs:
Diagnose engine faults using scanners and other diagnostic tools for late-model diesel engines. Perform repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other components as needed. Address and resolve performance issues efficiently to minimize truck downtime.
Preventative Maintenance & BIT Compliance:
Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure fleet reliability. Perform and document BIT (Basic Inspection of Terminals) inspections, ensuring compliance with state regulations. Monitor vehicle safety, including brake systems, emissions, and hydraulics.
Tools & Equipment:
Maintain and operate personal tools, including diagnostic scanners. Ensure tools and equipment are in safe, working condition.
Documentation & Reporting:
Accurately document repair work, parts used, and time spent on jobs. Maintain service records and BIT inspection documentation. Report any significant repairs or fleet concerns to management promptly.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with drivers and operations staff to address vehicle issues. Provide clear explanations of repairs and preventative maintenance to team members. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all company safety policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bilingual:
Fluent in Spanish and English (required).
Tools:
Must own a personal toolset, including a scanner for diesel diagnostics.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines. Experience performing BIT inspections and ensuring compliance.
Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with late-model diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems. Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.

Retirement Plan Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Standing, bending, kneeling, and working under vehicles for extended periods. Comfortable working in a shop environment with occasional outdoor work.
