Job Description

Join the Arizona Pipeline Team! We are currently hiring Fleet Mechanics in our Hesperia location.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and heavy equipment used in construction operations. This role involves inspections, troubleshooting, and hands-on repair of engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently. This position requires strong diagnostic skills, mechanical knowledge and the ability to handle a variety of service and repair tasks efficiently and safely. This role serves as an intermediate/independent position. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles, including tractor-trailers, excavators, backhoes, etc.
  • Perform inspections and diagnostics on trucks and equipment
  • Complete repairs and preventative maintenance on engines, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Conduct DOT/BIT inspections and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and operators regarding equipment status
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of company vehicles and machinery
  • Conduct automotive diagnostics to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication tasks.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance work performed on vehicles and equipment.
  • Execute brake repair, alignment, suspension work, and transmission services as needed.
  • Operate heavy equipment safely while adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete assembly tasks and equipment repairs efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding vehicle issues and repair timelines.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Diesel, Heavy Equipment, or Fleet Mechanic
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills (diesel, hydraulic, electrical systems)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to lift parts and work in various outdoor conditions
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); Coursework or certificate in Automotive Technology or related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge or preventive maintenance programs, including inspections, fluid services, brakes, tires and mechanical repairs.
  • Working understanding of fleet maintenance operations, vehicle service intervals and DVIR completion and compliance.
  • Experience using maintenance tracking software (e.g. Equipment360 or similar) to document work orders, inspections and repairs.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while meeting productivity, quality and safety expectations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize work orders and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills, including the ability to communicate repair needs and findings to supervisors or service coordinators.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including proper use of hand and power tools, parts identification and basic troubleshooting.
  • Valid driver's license (required).
Experience:
  • 2-5 years of experience in a mechanic shop, fleet environment or related hands-on mechanical role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); Coursework or certificate in Automotive Technology or related field preferred.
Schedule:
  • 8-hour shifts (10-hours as required)
  • Day Shift
  • Monday to Friday (Some Saturdays)
Work Location:
In person in the Hesperia's Mechanic Shop and Hesperia City Division's areas of operation.
Pay:
$33.80 - $43.80 per hour
