In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of heavy equipment and diesel fleet trucks to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet operational, minimizing downtime and supporting our operational goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity for mechanics with a passion for heavy equipment, diesel engines, and complex machinery to showcase their skills in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, skid steers, tractors, trailers, and diesel trucks using schematics and technical manuals. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, suspension adjustments, and hydraulic system servicing to extend equipment lifespan. Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific repair requirements. Troubleshoot electrical systems including automotive diagnostics, wiring harnesses, sensors, and control modules to identify issues accurately. Repair transmissions, air brake systems, shocks & struts, and perform wheel alignments to ensure vehicle safety and efficiency. Utilize heavy lifting techniques safely when handling large components or equipment during repairs or assembly tasks. Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed for compliance and future reference. Requirements Proven experience working as a mechanic with CAT experience preferred; strong background in heavy equipment operation is essential. Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions, brakes (including air brake systems), suspension components, HVAC systems, and tire service. Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals to accurately diagnose issues across various machinery types such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and industrial equipment. Proficient with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and other fabrication tools necessary for complex repairs. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working on large machinery or components in a busy shop environment. Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong understanding of mine site safety procedures and practices. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
