Job Description

Position Summary:
Talent Source is seeking experienced Diesel Mechanic Journeymen for opportunities in San Diego, CA. This position is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, and maintaining diesel engines and associated mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have journeyman-level diesel mechanic experience and be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul diesel engines and related mechanical systems. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on diesel-powered equipment. Inspect equipment and identify mechanical deficiencies and repair requirements. Remove, repair, replace, and reinstall engine components as needed. Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, drawings, and specifications. Conduct testing and operational checks to verify proper equipment performance. Utilize precision measuring instruments, diagnostic equipment, and hand tools. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and repair activities. Follow all safety procedures and quality standards.
Required Qualifications:
Journeyman-level Diesel Mechanic experience. Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and mechanical drawings. Experience using diagnostic equipment and precision measuring tools. Ability to work independently and safely in an industrial environment. Must be at least 18 years old.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with MTU, Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, or similar engines. Military diesel mechanic experience. Heavy equipment or industrial diesel experience.
Salary Range:
$28-$50 per hour
