Diesel Mechanic Fleet Technician Tracy, CA 95304 $29.84 - $35.94 an hour - Full-time $29.84 - $35.94 an hour - Full-time Overview Join our dynamic team as a Diesel Mechanic Fleet Technician and become a vital part of maintaining a robust fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment! In this energetic role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of diesel-powered machinery and vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, supporting operations across various industries. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components using schematics and specialized tools. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, alignment checks, and HVAC system servicing to keep equipment in top condition. Repair and fabricate parts for heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and tractor-trailers. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and fabrication techniques to assemble or repair components efficiently. Operate heavy machinery safely during repairs or testing phases to ensure proper functionality before returning equipment to service. Read and interpret technical schematics and manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues accurately. Maintain detailed service records, logs of repairs performed, parts used, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures. Skills Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic or service technician with dealership or industrial backgrounds. Strong mechanical knowledge across automotive repair, heavy equipment operation, and farm machinery maintenance. Skilled in diagnostics using schematics and electronic testing tools; familiar with automotive diagnostics software is a plus. Expertise in repairing transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC units, shocks & struts, and tire services. Ability to fabricate parts or components using welding and fabrication techniques; experience with power tools is essential. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients. Capable of heavy lifting safely while performing repairs or moving equipment; familiarity with safety protocols is required.
