Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, and electrical systems using schematics and technical manuals. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, alignment checks, shocks & struts replacement, and HVAC system servicing to ensure optimal equipment performance. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and fabrication techniques to assemble or repair heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and farm machinery. Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues on heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, and industrial machinery by interpreting schematics and electrical diagrams. Perform safety inspections adhering to industry standards for air brake systems, hydraulic lines, suspension components, and other critical systems. Assist in the assembly of new equipment or parts replacement to maintain high standards of operational readiness. Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair findings clearly and offering maintenance recommendations to clients or team members. Requirements Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engine repair and automotive diagnostics in a dealership or heavy equipment environment. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC units, and electrical components. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting electrical issues. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working with tires, shocks & struts, or large components. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, service tech equipment, and diagnostic software for automotive or industrial repair. Dealership experience or background working on Caterpillar machinery or similar heavy equipment highly preferred. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused attitude; strong communication skills are essential.
