Job Description

Position Summary This position requires strong knowledge of diesel engines as well as electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems associated with heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of heavy equipment and machinery. This is a field-based and shop-based role requiring frequent travel to job sites, equipment locations, and company facilities. A valid driver's license is required , and the employee must be able to operate a company vehicle as needed. Candidates must be comfortable working in a mobile environment where work is performed at multiple locations rather than a single fixed shop. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on a diverse fleet of earth-moving and heavy equipment Conduct electronic diagnostics to troubleshoot and repair diesel-powered engines and systems Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and air conditioning systems Perform repairs on braking systems, including hydraulic and electric components Communicate diagnostic findings, repair plans, and required parts clearly and accurately Recognize, select, and safely operate tools and equipment commonly used in heavy equipment repair Perform preventive maintenance inspections and complete repair order documentation Test drive equipment as needed to diagnose issues and confirm proper operation Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Assist in other areas of the shop and perform additional duties as assigned Physical Requirements The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequently required to use hands to handle, feel, and operate tools and equipment Frequently required to reach, extend arms, crawl, kneel, and work in confined positions Must frequently lift, carry, and maneuver engine parts and components; occasionally lift up to 80 lbs unassisted Must be a safe and cautious worker at all times, with strict adherence to safety procedures Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to steel-toe or metatarsal boots, safety glasses, hard hat, hearing protection, gloves, face shields, and respirators as required Job Requirements Valid driver's license Diesel technology training or formal education preferred Prior experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician strongly preferred Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
