Job Description Job Description Core Truck Solutions is seeking a skilled Technician II- Diesel & Heavy Truck/Equipment to assist with the service, repair, inspection, maintenance, and upfitting of heavy-duty trucks and crane-equipped vehicles, bucket trucks, digger derricks, and similar utility equipment. This is a mid-level technician position ideal for individuals with diesel or heavy equipment repair experience who are looking to expand their skills in hydraulic systems, truck-mounted cranes, and utility equipment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, dependable, and motivated to continue developing their technical expertise. Core Responsibilities Diagnostics, Repair & Technical Work Diagnose, repair, and replace mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and air systems on heavy-duty trucks and equipment Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics using industry-standard tools and software Service diesel and gasoline engines, drivetrains, brakes, suspension systems, and hydraulic components Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues while collaborating with senior technicians as needed Perform repairs according to manufacturer specifications and company standards Truck-Mounted Crane & Utility Equipment Responsibilities Perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on truck-mounted cranes and utility equipment while collaborating with senior technicians as needed Work on articulated and telescopic cranes, bucket trucks, digger derricks, aerial platforms, and similar boom equipment Inspect and service hydraulic systems, outriggers, winches, hoists, boom components, and related equipment Perform work in accordance with ANSI, OSHA, DOT, and manufacturer requirements Participate in operational testing and equipment function checks following repairs Maintenance, Compliance & Safety Perform preventative maintenance and routine service inspections Conduct DOT inspections and assist in ensuring equipment compliance with applicable regulations Identify worn or damaged components and recommend repairs Follow all company safety policies and shop procedures Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas Documentation & Communication Accurately document repairs, inspections, maintenance activities, and work performed Communicate equipment issues, repair recommendations, and safety concerns to supervisors Complete work orders and inspection reports in a timely manner Installation, Upfitting & Fabrication Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and truck upfits Perform hydraulic hose fabrication and replacement as needed Read and interpret wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and service manuals Assist with welding and fabrication projects as required Work Environment Primarily shop-based work with occasional field service assignments Ability to lift 50-75 pounds Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments as needed Exposure to heavy equipment, hydraulic systems, and shop tools Required Qualifications 3-5 years of diesel truck, heavy equipment, utility equipment, or related mechanical experience Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical systems Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience Basic understanding of DOT inspections and compliance requirements Valid driver's license Ability to work independently on routine repairs and collaborate effectively within a team environment Ability to follow OEM service procedures and manufacturer specifications Basic computer proficiency and experience with digital work order systems Preferred Qualifications Experience working on truck-mounted cranes, bucket trucks, digger derricks, or aerial equipment Hydraulic troubleshooting experience ASE certifications NCCCO or equivalent crane-related certifications Experience with IMT, Auto Crane, Stellar, Altec, or similar equipment Welding and fabrication experience CDL Class B or higher Other duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
