Job Description
Farm Maintenance & Equipment Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic (Full-Time ) Southern Hill Farms is seeking an experienced and dependable Farm Maintenance & Equipment Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic to support daily farm operations. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing farm equipment, tractors, diesel and gasoline engines, buildings, and facilities. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, welding experience, and the ability to perform preventative maintenance and field repairs in an agricultural environment. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on farm equipment, tractors, and facilities Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on diesel and gasoline engines Ensure equipment is safe, operational, and ready ahead of scheduled farm use Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and service schedules Perform welding and fabrication (MIG / stick preferred) Assemble, modify, and repair equipment and farm infrastructure Conduct on-site field repairs as needed Maintain a clean, organized, and secure maintenance shop Order parts and manage inventory of tools, fluids, filters, and supplies Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and equipment dealers Communicate repair timelines and priorities with farm management Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred Proven experience as a farm mechanic, equipment mechanic, or diesel mechanic Experience repairing tractors, agricultural equipment, and small engines Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine maintenance and repair Welding and fabrication experience preferred (MIG / stick preferred) Plumbing and electrical repair experience a plus Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems independently Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word / Outlook helpful) Valid Florida Driver's License required Clean driving record preferred Skills & Abilities Farm equipment maintenance and repair Diesel engine diagnostics Preventative maintenance scheduling Mechanical troubleshooting Welding and fabrication Inventory and parts management Vendor coordination Time management and organization • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to bend, pull, stand, and work on concrete floors for extended periods Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to safely operate tools, machinery, and farm equipment Ability to access all areas of the farm, including remote fields Why Work at Southern Hill Farms?
