Roadside Diesel Mechanic Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly-skilled and experienced roadside diesel mechanic to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role will be to provide on-site repairs and maintenance for diesel-powered vehicles, including trucks, buses, and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engines and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to service calls from drivers who have experienced mechanical issues with their diesel vehicles on the road. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems with diesel engines, fuel systems, transmissions, brakes, and other vehicle components. Perform repairs and maintenance services on-site, including engine rebuilds, transmission replacements, brake repairs, and electrical system troubleshooting. Use diagnostic equipment and software to diagnose and repair complex mechanical problems. Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatchers, and other team members to ensure a seamless repair process. Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed, including parts used and labor time. Ensure compliance with safety procedures and protocols. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or degree in diesel mechanics preferred. At least 3 years of experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance. Experience with diagnostic software and tools. Strong understanding of diesel engine systems, fuel systems, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems. Ability to work independently and problem-solve on the spot. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines. Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods. Must be able to work in varying weather conditions.
