Heavy Diesel Mechanic 5460 N US Highway 441, Ocala, FL 34475 $27.46 - $32.00 an hour - Full-time $27.46 - $32.00 an hour - Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team.
THIS POSITION IS NOT ENTRY
LEVEL and at least five+ years of verifiable experience is required. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty equipment, mostly including class 8 trucks. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting our operations across various sectors. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes (including air brake systems), shocks & struts, and HVAC components. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, wheel alignments, and fluid checks to maximize equipment lifespan. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, and electronic controls on heavy equipment. Fabricate and modify parts or components using power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and hand tools to meet specific repair needs. Repair and maintain a variety of machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and other heavy-duty vehicles. Inspect equipment for safety issues or wear-and-tear; perform necessary repairs or replacements to ensure compliance with safety standards. DOT regulations experience required. Operate heavy equipmen/truckst during testing or repairs when required. CDL not required but prefered. Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed; communicate effectively with team members and customers regarding repair status. Experience Proven mechanic experience with a focus on heavy diesel engines and industrial equipment. Dealership experience is highly preferred for familiarity with manufacturer-specific systems and protocols. Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, air brake systems, suspension components, HVAC systems, and tire service. Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; capable of working with power tools and hand tools efficiently. Experience working with schematics for electrical wiring diagrams and mechanical assemblies. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex repairs. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about repairs and maintenance needs. Pay:
$27.46 - $32.00 per hour
