Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty waste and sanitation vehicles. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable, and compliant with DOT regulations while supporting daily operations. If you have strong diesel, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills and enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced environment, we'd like to hear from you.
Pay:
$25.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive Maintenance Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, lubrication, tire rotations, and brake adjustments Conduct inspections to identify potential mechanical issues before they become major repairs Diagnostics & Repairs Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, transmissions, steering, suspension, and brake systems Utilize diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment to identify and resolve equipment failures Repair and rebuild components as needed Hydraulic & Specialized Equipment Maintenance Service and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, hoses, motors, and pneumatic systems Maintain and repair refuse truck packer bodies and related equipment Safety & Compliance Perform safety inspections and complete repairs identified through Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) Ensure all equipment meets DOT and OSHA requirements Follow company safety procedures and best practices Documentation & Inventory Complete work orders, maintenance records, and repair documentation Order parts and assist with inventory management Track labor hours, repairs completed, and materials used Emergency Service Respond to road calls and equipment breakdowns as needed Diagnose and repair equipment in the field when possible QualificationsRequired Minimum of 3 years of heavy-duty diesel truck maintenance experience Strong knowledge of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, hoses, and hydraulic systems Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems using diagnostic software Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations Clean driving record Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods Ability to work safely in shop and field environments
