POSITION TITLE
Bus Technician Specialist for the 2026-2027 School Year
JOB DETAILS
236 Days - Classified Salary Schedule H2
LOCATION:
Transportation Department
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(include but are not limited to): Shift supervisor over mechanics and assigned work orders; Assists and performs back-up to the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to input and produce fleet maintenance purchase orders; Assists Fleet Maintenance Supervisor with repair of replacement of damaged property caused by a Bartow County bus; Maintains BCSS Bus Fueling System records, reports and inventory levels; Inspects, evaluates, maintains and repairs all related BCSS vehicles and equipment for safe operating condition as required by state guidelines; Tests equipment and evaluates component failure; Utilizes and tests equipment properly; Performs proper checkout procedures to track and locate defects and determine level of repair needed; Assists with monitoring 2-way radio to quickly help driver encountering mechanical problems; Responds to emergency road calls and repair on or makes proper recommendations to Fleet Maintenance Supervisor; Responsible for firmware upgrades REI Camera systems and updates to inventory control systems and software; Responsible for all shop diagnostic engine software and laptop testing programs; Inspect, repair, replace, install DVR electronic equipment; Maintains safe, clean and secure work environment; Participates in training classes when needed; Follows all federal, state, and local policies and laws in execution of duties; Maintains prompt and regular attendance; Other duties as assigned as related to areas of direct report.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERINCE, TRAINING AND/OR SKILLS
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; General mechanic skills (diesel preferred); Must have current, valid Commercial Georgia Driver's License; Must be able to use and operate a variety of tools and equipment as needed. A/C certified to meet 609 regulations.
