Job Description

Job Overview 404 Ready Mix is seeking a highly skilled and energetic Diesel Mechanic Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Experience working on Mixer trucks - is a plus but not required. These specialized vehicles transport ready-mix concrete from batching plants to job sites while keeping it workable through continuous internal agitation. We are willing to train an entry level diesel mechanic technician with the willingness to learn and work independently. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems using OEM manuals, schematics, and specialized tools. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, alignments, and inspections on trucks, farm machinery, industrial equipment, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery. Fabricate custom parts or modify existing components using welding, soldering, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific operational needs. Troubleshoot electrical systems including wiring harnesses and sensors to identify faults and implement effective repairs. Operate heavy equipment safely during repairs or testing phases to ensure proper functioning post-maintenance. Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed, parts used, and inspections completed to ensure compliance with safety standards and OEM specifications. Assist with assembly or disassembly of complex machinery components during major repairs or upgrades. Skills Proven dealership or heavy equipment service technician experience with strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and suspension components. Expertise in automotive diagnostics combined with the ability to read schematics accurately for troubleshooting complex electrical issues. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other maintenance tools for precise repairs. Experience working with OEM parts and understanding manufacturer specifications for vehicle maintenance and repair. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during tire service or component replacement tasks. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers as well as farm machinery and industrial equipment.
