Job Description
TAG Repair Center is seeking an experienced Shop Manager / Lead Diesel Technician to oversee the day-to-day operations of our heavy-duty truck repair facility in Temple, Georgia. This is a hands-on management position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading technicians, managing workflow, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining shop productivity, and assisting with diagnostics and repairs when needed. Our ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, extensive diesel repair experience, excellent customer service abilities, and a proven track record of maintaining an efficient and profitable shop operation. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the repair facility and ensure efficient workflow. Supervise, mentor, and support technicians and service personnel. Assist with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed. Manage work order flow from vehicle check-in through completion. Maintain productivity, efficiency, and quality standards throughout the shop. Monitor labor performance, shop profitability, and overall operational metrics. Ensure accurate documentation of repair orders, inspections, and service records. Coordinate with service advisors, parts suppliers, and customers to ensure timely repairs. Assist with estimating repairs and communicating recommendations to customers. Manage parts ordering and inventory control when necessary. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures. Recruit, train, and develop technicians to support shop growth. Handle customer concerns professionally and maintain strong customer relationships. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Monitor equipment and facility maintenance requirements. Support business development efforts and help grow the customer base. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of heavy-duty diesel repair experience. Minimum 2 years of management or supervisory experience preferred. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities. Experience with Freightliner, Volvo, Kenworth, Peterbilt, International, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Paccar, and Volvo engines preferred. Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Proficiency with repair order and shop management systems. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work as needed.
