Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Raly Transport is a family-owned business with offices in Earlville, IA, Manly, IA and Rosemount, MN. We are seeking a diesel mechanic/shop manager to oversee shop operations and truck maintenance at our Manly, IA location. Candidates must have expertise in diesel engines, hydraulic systems and diagnostic tools with technical certification in diesel repair or 5+ years preferred. This job does have certain physical demands. All applicants must be able to lift 60lbs, stand, sit, kneel, squat, lay, bend, push and pull while on the job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat and cold (non-weather) all in a typically loud work environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform skilled repair or maintenance operations, using equipment such as hand or power tools, hydraulic presses or shears, or welding equipment. Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on diesel engines, transmissions, and heavy equipment. Maintain compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, DOT). Manage parts inventory and ensure shop equipment is in good working order. Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs to optimize fleet availability and reduce repair costs. Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of the shop to ensure adequate working conditions. Meet with vendors or suppliers to discuss products used in repair work. Order and maintain inventories of parts, materials, equipment, etc. Develop, implement and evaluate maintenance procedures and policies. Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, lead technician or shop manager; 5+ years preferred High school diploma or equivalent required, vocational/technical certification in diesel repair preferred Valid driver's license required, CDL Class A License preferred Strong communication, organizational and team-building skills Dependable, safety-minded, and capable of working independently
