Job Description

Brightsky Group of Services, a 50+-year facility management company with nationwide operations, is hiring a skilled Diesel Truck Mechanic to join a stable company in Chicago, IL 60612 . This is a Temp-to-Hire opportunity for an experienced Truck Mechanic who takes pride in safety, teamwork, and keeping equipment operating efficiently in a fast-paced industrial environment. Brightsky Start ASAP What You'll Do:
Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline-powered trucks and equipment Perform preventative maintenance inspections and document USDOT violations Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, differentials, and chassis components Remove and replace mechanical components including pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings Repair truck and trailer systems including suspension, brakes, lighting, and ignition systems Perform truck & trailer repairs and general fleet maintenance in-house Work with hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, lubrication, and power transmission systems Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels as needed Repair or replace shocks, suspension components, and damaged body/fender parts Operate and work around forklifts, skid steers, front-end loaders, and heavy equipment Use computer systems to document repairs and maintenance activities Maintain safety, attendance, and quality standards Collaborate with team members in a fast-paced metal recycling environment Be available for overtime, holidays, and call-ins when needed Qualifications Minimum 3 years of Diesel Mechanic, Truck Mechanic, or Heavy Equipment Mechanic experience Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills Truck & trailer repair experience required Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and heavy equipment preferred Forklift, skid steer, or front-end loader experience preferred Basic computer skills required Valid Driver's License required Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work indoors/outdoors Strong teamwork and communication skills Must pass background check and drug test Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Ability to start
