Diesel Mechanic Federal Warehouse Company - 3.5 East Peoria, IL Job Details Full-time $28.31 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Diesel mechanics Diesel truck repair Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of box trucks and tractor trailers . This role is responsible for diagnosing issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring all equipment is safe, compliant, and operational to minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and related systems on box trucks and semi-tractors/trailers Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), including oil changes, filters, brakes, and fluid services Troubleshoot and repair engine, transmission, electrical, and hydraulic systems Inspect and repair air brake systems, suspensions, steering, and driveline components Perform DOT inspections and ensure compliance with all safety regulations Diagnose faults using diagnostic software, scan tools, and OEM systems Test drive equipment to verify repairs and performance Complete trailer repairs (doors, floors, landing gear, etc.) Respond to road calls/breakdowns as needed Maintain accurate service records and work orders Order and track parts and maintain shop inventory Follow all company safety policies and
OSHA/DOT
guidelines Qualifications 2+ years experience working on diesel trucks or heavy-duty equipment Strong knowledge of: Diesel engines (Cummins, Detroit, etc.) Electrical and diagnostic systems Air brakes and suspension systems Experience with tractor trailers and/or box truck fleets preferred Ability to use diagnostic computers and scan tools Valid driver's license (CDL preferred for road testing) Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and work in a shop environment Preferred Certifications ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification (T-Series) Technical school or diesel technology training OEM certifications (Cummins, CAT, Detroit Diesel) a plus Key Skills Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability Mechanical and electrical repair expertise Attention to detail and safety awareness Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Team-oriented in a fast-paced fleet operation Work Environment Shop and field environment (including yard and roadside repairs ) Exposure to noise, moving equipment, and weather conditions Full-time position with potential overtime
