Position Overview As a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our company trucks to keep them safe, compliant, and road-ready. This role requires strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, after-treatment systems, and preventative maintenance procedures. Responsibilities Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on Class A diesel trucks Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, electrical, brake, suspension, steering, cooling, and fuel system issues Perform planned maintenance services and DOT inspections Troubleshoot check engine lights, fault codes, after-treatment issues, DEF/SCR/DPF systems, and emissions-related problems Use computer diagnostic software and scan tools to identify mechanical and electronic issues Repair and replace components including starters, alternators, sensors, valves, hoses, belts, batteries, and other truck parts Perform transmission-related inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs Maintain accurate repair records, including parts used, labor time, and completed work Communicate repair status, parts needs, and downtime estimates with the maintenance and operations teams Ensure all work is completed safely, correctly, and in compliance with DOT standards Keep the shop area clean, organized, and safe Qualifications 2+ years of diesel mechanic or heavy-duty truck repair experience preferred Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, suspension, steering, and after-treatment systems Experience with diagnostic software and computer-based troubleshooting Preventative maintenance and DOT inspection experience preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality repairs Must have own basic tools Valid driver's license required High school diploma or GED preferred Preferred Experience Freightliner Cascadia experience Detroit Diesel engine experience Experience with diagnostic programs such as Detroit Diesel DiagnosticLink, Cummins INSITE, Allison DOC, JPRO, Bendix, WABCO, or similar software Experience working in a fleet maintenance environment Knowledge of DOT compliance and safety standards What We Offer Competitive pay with available overtime Steady work on company-owned equipment Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off Holiday pay Supportive shop and operations team Long-term career opportunity with a growing trucking company Opportunity to work on well-maintained fleet equipment About AGM Transport Inc.
