is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Summit, IL. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues and develop effective solutions. The role requires meticulousness in inspections and repairs to detect small problems that could cause significant failures. The Mechanic will prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and organize and schedule with dispatch/operations to complete repairs in a timely manner. Education and Experience
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Experience in diesel mechanics or a related field
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 50-100 pounds Knowledge
  • Mechanical and electrical systems
  • Safety protocols and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • High integrity and trustworthiness Primary Job Duties
  • Maintain Hallett Movers' fleet in a safe working condition by performing daily vehicle inspections, routine preventative maintenance, and carrying out repairs on trailers, liftgates, roll-up doors, roof leaks, engine components, brakes, suspensions, hydraulic systems, exhaust/DEF system, and electrical systems.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of vehicle maintenance for each truck, vehicle inspections, safety inspections, and repairs.
  • Use the internet or call retailers for parts and pricing. Develop and maintain a pricing sheet for parts from various vendors to manage repair costs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees.
