Job Description

Diesel Mechanic Maintenance - Franklin, IN - Full Time A Carter Lumber Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of various types of equipment and items. This includes working on semis, trailers, skid-steers, forklifts, small equipment, and golf carts. Occasionally, you'll also be responsible for small fabrication jobs. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.
Requirements:
3-5 years of comprehensive diesel maintenance experience, including diagnostics, preventative service, and component repair Must have a current valid driver's license; a CDL is a bonus. Some days may include traveling to get parts or make small roadside/offsite repairs. Must have own tools. 7am-5pm M-F; $20-$26/hr
Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance Will have to be able to keep and maintain proper records and inventory of parts and supplies used on each job. At times, must be able to order parts and be self-sufficient to take ownership of some jobs or tasks. Will be responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the shop, breakroom, bathroom, and the area in or around the building. Certain repairs and upkeep items are the responsibility of the shop to maintain. Housekeeping and self-motivation to keep a safe and clean working area is a must. Will be reporting to a shop supervisor who will assist in all daily tasks to maintain a safe working environment and help with any technical issues or problems that may arise. Equipment Maintenance Scope of work includes PM preventive maintenance services, wheel seals, hydraulic repairs, air/hydraulic brake work, charging/cooling systems, driveline repairs, electrical work, entry to mid-level engine repairs, small metal fabrication jobs, DOT inspections, HVAC, and diagnosing vehicle faults with computer software. Safety Will be expected to execute a plan prior to performing work or tasks to safely complete each task with the involvement of others around you. Must be able to maintain a positive mentality as the environment includes interaction with others in close quarters and sometimes in a fast-paced setting. Must be willing to take guidance and follow safety protocols and procedures put in place by the company or any manager/supervisor. Will have to interact with multiple employees to help identify issues that arise daily. Must be proactive in looking ahead if a situation appears unsafe and help maintain a safe working environment.
