Job Description

Job Summary We work 8-4:30 and take call 24/7 for mobile services. Experience is preferred. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty equipment, including trucks, construction machinery, and industrial vehicles. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting our operational excellence. The ideal candidate is passionate about machinery, possesses strong mechanical skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where precision and safety are paramount. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, and air brake systems using schematics and technical manuals. Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan across heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and tractor-trailers. Fabricate and modify parts or components as needed using power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and hand tools to meet specific repair requirements. Utilize automotive diagnostics tools to identify issues accurately and efficiently troubleshoot electrical systems, HVAC units, shocks & struts, and other mechanical components. Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed, parts used, and inspections completed to ensure compliance with safety standards and warranty requirements. Assist with equipment assembly and installation projects; perform heavy lifting safely when handling large or awkward components. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating repair status clearly to clients or team members and offering maintenance advice to optimize equipment performance. Skills Proven experience working as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic in a dealership or industrial setting with a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation. Extensive knowledge of diesel engine repair, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes (including air brake systems), suspension systems, HVAC systems, and tire service. Ability to read schematics accurately for troubleshooting electrical issues or complex mechanical systems. Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; proficient with power tools and hand tools for assembly or repair tasks. Familiarity with automotive diagnostics software and electronic testing devices; strong electrical troubleshooting skills. Experience working on diverse machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, tractor-trailers, and industrial equipment. Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to perform heavy lifting safely in compliance with safety protocols. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly; team-oriented mindset committed to quality workmanship.
