We're looking for a Mechanic 3 to join our Fleet Division—a proactive, people-focused team working to attract and support the talent that drives our mission forward. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient operation, supervision, and maintenance of our fleet and mechanical assets. The incumbent will assist with the intake of new vehicles and assist the parts room at Fleet, dealing with inventory. This position serves as an automotive mechanic assigned to the LA State Police Region 3, Headquarters Garage facility (Rapides Parish). This facility is responsible for the maintenance and repair of approximately 300 vehicles, including specialized vehicles such as pursuit-rated vehicles and diesel-powered vehicles. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
Types of repairs include preventative maintenance, engine repairs, air conditioning/heating systems, brakes, lights, tires, etc. The position will assist in the maintenance and upkeep of buildings and grounds as needed. This facility operates a wrecker to recover and transport inoperative vehicles. All tools and equipment necessary to perform duties are supplied. Training opportunities are also provided. Greets and assists vendors with deliveries of uniforms, parts, etc., as needed. Assists with cleaning the shop area each day. Assists with making sure all shop equipment remains in good working order. Compiles and submits a report of tow truck monthly mileage. Assists with the training of inmate labor in the field of complex automotive repairs. Responsible for safely transporting inmate labor each morning and afternoon, including ensuring their actions comply with all applicable policies/rules. Completes training via computer or attends classes as required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position-Specific Details:
