In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vacuum trucks and heavy equipment used in industrial and environmental services. Your expertise will ensure our fleet operates efficiently, safely, and reliably, supporting our commitment to delivering top-tier service to clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of machinery, from heavy-duty engines to hydraulic systems, in a fast-paced environment that values technical excellence and proactive problem-solving. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems using schematics and automotive diagnostic tools. Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, and alignment adjustments to maximize equipment lifespan. Repair and fabricate components as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to ensure optimal performance of vac trucks and related machinery. Troubleshoot electrical systems including wiring harnesses, sensors, Soldering components and electrical diagnostics to resolve operational issues efficiently. Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and inspections; ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Assist with heavy lifting tasks involving industrial equipment or farm machinery using forklifts or crane operations when necessary. Support the team with assembly of new equipment or parts replacement on heavy machinery such as excavators or tractor-trailers to keep operations running smoothly. Skills Proven experience working as a mechanic with dealership experience preferred; strong background in automotive repair and heavy equipment maintenance. Extensive knowledge of diesel engine repair, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, suspension components, and air brake systems. Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues. Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other maintenance tools required for fabrication and repair tasks. Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or tractor-trailers safely and effectively. Familiarity with service technician practices including tire service, wheel alignment, shocks & struts replacement, brake repair, and vehicle diagnostics. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and clients when needed.
