Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty equipment, including trucks, construction machinery, and industrial vehicles. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting our operations across various sectors such as transportation, construction, and agriculture. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and electrical components using schematics and service manuals. Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, and wheel alignments to keep equipment in optimal condition. Fabricate custom parts or modifications using power tools and welding techniques to meet specific operational needs. Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers to assist with repairs or testing procedures. Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform soldering or wiring repairs to ensure all systems function correctly. Use hand tools and diagnostic equipment for precise repairs on farm machinery, industrial equipment, or automotive components. Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document repair procedures accurately for compliance and future reference. Support customer service efforts by explaining repair work clearly and providing recommendations for ongoing maintenance. Experience Proven mechanic experience with heavy diesel engines and related systems in a dealership or industrial setting. Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other large machinery. Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics tools and schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and metalworking. Ability to perform precise repairs on transmissions, HVAC systems within vehicles or machinery, wheel alignments, hydraulics, suspension components, and air brake systems. Experience working with Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment brands is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to lift heavy components safely during maintenance tasks while adhering to safety protocols. Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with electrical skills for troubleshooting electrical systems in various machinery types. Customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance recommendations.
