Diesel Mechanic

Job Title:

Diesel Bus Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered buses and related systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. You will work with diesel engines, transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulics, and other critical components, using your mechanical expertise to keep a fleet in top working condition. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and related components on buses and trucks. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on diesel vehicles, including oil changes, filter replacements, and system checks. Troubleshoot and repair transmission issues to ensure smooth and reliable vehicle operation. Maintain, adjust, and repair air brake systems, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards. Service and repair hydraulic systems and components used in bus operations. Work with pneumatic systems, including diagnosis and repair of air-related components. Perform general engine work, including testing, tuning, and component replacement as needed. Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to identify mechanical and electrical issues accurately. Document all maintenance and repair work performed in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. Follow established safety procedures and guidelines while working on vehicles and equipment. Collaborate with other technicians and team members to prioritize work and ensure timely completion of repairs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the shop at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harvey, LA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
