Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining school buses and vans. Your expertise will ensure that our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and reliably as we transport the most precious cargo. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with school transportation vehicles, in a fast-paced environment that values precision and proactive service. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics. Conduct repairs and maintenance. Fabricate parts or modify equipment using hand tools, power tools, and welding to meet operational needs. Service and repair vehicle systems including brakes, suspension, alignment, HVAC systems, tires, and brake components to ensure safety compliance. Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed; interpret schematics for troubleshooting complex issues; follow manufacturer specifications for parts replacement. Operate heavy equipment safely during repairs or testing phases; perform heavy lifting with appropriate safety measures. Provide exceptional service by communicating repair status clearly and ensuring timely completion of maintenance tasks. Qualifications Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engine repair and heavy equipment maintenance. Strong mechanical knowledge across various systems. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals; familiarity with parts and specifications. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other tools. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; experience working with machinery or industrial equipment is advantageous. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance; strong customer service orientation. Valid certifications related to automotive diagnostics or heavy equipment repair are a plus. CDL license or ability to obtain one is a requirement. Must own your own tools. Pay:
$30.00 - $37.00 per hour
