Job Description

Job Overview Are you passionate about heavy machinery and eager to develop your skills in the automotive and equipment repair industry? As a Diesel Technician Apprentice, you will embark on an exciting journey to learn the ins and outs of diesel engine repair, heavy equipment maintenance, and mechanical troubleshooting. This paid apprenticeship offers hands-on experience working with a variety of machinery, including trucks, excavators, cranes, and farm equipment. You'll be mentored by experienced technicians while gaining valuable knowledge in diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Responsibilities Assist in diagnosing issues with diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and other heavy equipment components. Support the repair and maintenance of diverse machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and industrial equipment. Learn to interpret schematics and technical manuals to accurately identify parts and procedures needed for repairs. Participate in performing vehicle maintenance tasks including brake repair, wheel alignment, shocks & struts replacement, tire service, and welding. Use hand tools and power tools safely to assemble or disassemble equipment parts during repairs or upgrades. Help with electrical diagnostics, soldering connections, and troubleshooting electrical systems on various machinery. Contribute to the upkeep of shop cleanliness and organization while adhering to safety protocols at all times. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary technical training is a plus but not required. Strong mechanical aptitude with an interest in heavy equipment operation and automotive diagnostics. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures such as oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements. Willingness to learn about hydraulics, air brake systems, HVAC systems on vehicles, and other specialized components. Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions. Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service when interacting with team members or clients. Prior experience or familiarity with dealership environments or service technician roles is advantageous but not mandatory.
