Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Diesel Technician to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of a wide range of heavy-duty equipment, including trucks. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of equipment used across various sectors such as transportation and construction. As a leader in our service department, you will mentor junior technicians, streamline repair processes, and uphold the highest standards of quality and safety. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional eager to lead by example and drive excellence in diesel engine repair. Duties Lead and supervise a team of technicians in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy machinery Perform complex repairs on equipment such as cranes, semi tractors, dump trucks and various trailers using schematics and technical manuals Conduct fabrication tasks including welding, cutting, and assembly to modify or repair equipment components Utilize automotive diagnostics tools to identify issues with transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC units, and electrical systems Oversee the proper use of hand tools, power tools, and heavy lifting equipment to ensure safe and efficient repairs Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inspection reports for all repairs performed Ensure compliance with safety standards. Requirements Extensive dealership experience or equivalent in heavy-duty vehicle repair with a proven track record of leading technical teams Strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes (including air brake systems), HVAC systems, and electrical diagnostics Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; ability to perform precise assembly and equipment repair Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for complex machinery including cranes, dump trucks, and tractor-trailers Excellent skills to communicate effectively with coworkers about repairs and maintenance needs Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining high attention to detail during repairs Valid certifications related to diesel engine repair; ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is preferred but not mandatory Prefer if applicant had a class A drivers license.
