DOT Inspector Location:

Position Overview:
Cable Dahmer Automotive Group is seeking an experienced Medium Duty Certified Technician with a valid DOT Inspector certification (or ability to obtain) to support our growing commercial and fleet service operations. This role is ideal for a technician who is confident working on medium-duty trucks and commercial vehicles, can perform accurate inspections, and thrives in a high-efficiency, production-focused dealership environment. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and inspecting medium-duty vehicles while ensuring all work meets safety standards, compliance requirements, and manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on medium-duty trucks and fleet/commercial vehicles Conduct DOT inspections and document findings in compliance with federal and state regulations Inspect and service brakes, suspension systems, driveline components, engines, and electrical systems Identify safety concerns and required repairs, clearly documenting recommendations Perform preventive maintenance services on fleet vehicles Accurately complete repair orders and inspection reports in dealership systems Collaborate with service advisors and fleet managers to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime Maintain compliance with all safety procedures and shop standards Stay current with OEM updates, technical bulletins, and training requirements
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of automotive or medium-duty truck technician experience Experience working on commercial or fleet vehicles (medium-duty preferred) Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills Ability to use scan tools and diagnostic equipment effectively DOT inspection certification (or willingness/eligibility to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications:
ASE certifications (especially brakes, diesel, or truck series certifications) Prior DOT inspector certification and active inspection experience Diesel engine experience (medium-duty or heavy-duty) OEM training (GM, Ford, Dodge/RAM, Freightliner, etc.) Prior dealership or fleet maintenance experience Strong understanding of DOT compliance requirements and documentation standards
