Diesel Technician Reports to:
Director of Fleet Maintenance Essential Functions:
- Diagnoses, rebuilds and repairs vehicles and equipment
- Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Prepares and maintains records and reports
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Assist in keeping service department clean and organized
- All other tasks as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Class A CDL Preferred
- Overall knowledge or diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs
- Must provide a basic set of tools
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must be thorough
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to handle multi-functions
- Ability to work proficiently and efficiently in a timely manner
- Highly detail oriented
Work Environment:
Technician duties operate in an outside, shop setting. This role routinely uses standard mechanic shop equipment.
Physical Demands:
Technician duties require the ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. It may also require walking primarily on a level surface or climbing, as well as, reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting 20 to 100 lbs. at least once a day.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and typical hours of work are Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm, Overtime and weekends may be necessary. On call rotation (Nights and Weekends) every few weeks.
Required Education:
High school diploma or GED diploma, at least five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
