Job Description
Diesel Technician Reports to:
Director of Fleet Maintenance Essential Functions:
Diagnoses, rebuilds and repairs vehicles and equipment
Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment
Prepares and maintains records and reports
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
Follow all safety policies and procedures
Assist in keeping service department clean and organized
All other tasks as assigned
Job Requirements:
Class A CDL Preferred
Overall knowledge or diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs
Must provide a basic set of tools
Must possess a valid driver's license
Must be thorough
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to handle multi-functions
Ability to work proficiently and efficiently in a timely manner
Highly detail oriented
Work Environment:
Technician duties operate in an outside, shop setting. This role routinely uses standard mechanic shop equipment.
Physical Demands:
Technician duties require the ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. It may also require walking primarily on a level surface or climbing, as well as, reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting 20 to 100 lbs. at least once a day.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and typical hours of work are Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm, Overtime and weekends may be necessary. On call rotation (Nights and Weekends) every few weeks.
Required Education:
High school diploma or GED diploma, at least five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
