Job Description

Diesel Mechanic A leading four-season recreation destination in the Flathead Valley is seeking Diesel Mechanics. With a state-of-the-art shop, the organization relies on a dedicated team of professionals to support its extensive infrastructure, fleet, and facilities. The Diesel Mechanic will maintain, diagnose, and repair a fleet of heavy equipment, diesel trucks, and specialized machinery critical to daily operations. This hands-on role requires expertise in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and computerized diagnostics, as well as the ability to perform preventative maintenance and major component repairs. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver who takes pride in keeping equipment operating safely, efficiently, and reliably in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Essential Functions and Duties:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel-powered trucks, fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and related mechanical systems Perform preventative maintenance inspections, scheduled services, and major component repairs to maximize equipment reliability and lifespan Inspect, repair, and maintain hydraulic, electrical, fuel, cooling, drivetrain, steering, suspension, and brake systems Utilize diagnostic software, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics to identify and resolve equipment issues Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and modification of parts and components to support repair and maintenance operations Maintain accurate service records and work orders while ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient shop environment in compliance with company safety standards
Qualifications:
Trade school certification in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, or a related field experience preferred 3 to 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or related technician Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, with the ability to diagnose and repair complex equipment issues Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation Experience with welding, metal fabrication, computerized diagnostic equipment, and electronic engine management systems Ability to provide and maintain personal hand tools and toolbox Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Get in touch!
