Position Overview AutoStar is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician III (Level 3) to join our service team. This position is designed for highly skilled technicians capable of independently diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and systems. The ideal candidate possesses advanced mechanical and electrical diagnostic abilities, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship. As a Level III Technician, you will serve as a key technical resource within the shop, helping mentor junior technicians while ensuring repairs are completed accurately and efficiently. What You'll Do Diagnose and repair complex diesel engine, fuel, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, HVAC, and drivetrain systems. Perform advanced troubleshooting using manufacturer diagnostic equipment and software. Complete repairs on diesel trucks, commercial vehicles, and heavy-duty pickups according to manufacturer specifications. Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections and identify additional maintenance or repair needs. Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, and recommendations. Perform warranty repairs while adhering to OEM guidelines and documentation requirements. Assist in training and mentoring entry-level and mid-level technicians. Maintain productivity, efficiency, and quality standards. Stay current on manufacturer training, technical bulletins, and emerging technologies. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment. What We're Looking For Level 3 Diesel Technician experience preferred. Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities. Strong understanding of diesel engines, emissions systems, electrical systems, and drivability concerns. Ability to independently complete major engine, transmission, and drivetrain repairs. Experience using OEM diagnostic software and scan tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Preferred Qualifications ASE Certifications (A-Series and/or T-Series) preferred. OEM certifications with Chrysler, Cummins, GM, Ford, or other manufacturers preferred. Experience with diesel emissions systems including DEF, SCR, DPF, and EGR diagnostics and repairs. Ability to operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles. CDL is a plus but not required. Why AutoStar? Competitive flat-rate or hourly compensation based on experience.
