About us Come work at Forks Truck & Trailer Repair! We are professional, fast-paced and rewarding. Locally owned and operated. Diesel Mechanics needed for a busy and growing service shop in Grand Forks. Currently looking to add another full-time experienced heavy duty diesel tech to our team. As a member of our team, you will interact with drivers to figure out what they need, put your mechanical skills to use and repair semi trucks and trailers. We are looking for someone with a background in diesel engines and experience working on commercial vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and maintain a constant flow of communication with their team members regarding the progress of their work. This is an exceptional position for someone with a positive attitude, excellent technical skills, and the desire to succeed. Must have own tools. Pay is based on experience. PTO after 90 days.
Diesel Mechanic Job Requirements:
Excellent mechanical skills Strong work ethic Trade-specific tooling, including hand and pneumatic tools Must have a valid driver's license with a clean MVR (CDL a plus) Must be able to pass a drug test and background checks Troubleshooting equipment maintenance problems to properly diagnose components to determine method and extent of repair necessary Ability to read, interpret, analyze and apply information in technical manuals and schematics Responsible for all phases of truck and trailer repair including but not limited to; oil changes, P/M inspections, DOT inspections, and general repair and maintenance of equipment. Performs corrective maintenance procedures (i.e. transmissions, hydraulic and electrical system, and various degrees of engine repair, etc) Anticipate needed parts and supplies, disassemble equipment and parts, fabricate parts when needed and reassemble equipment and parts as directed Work well with a diverse group of people including office staff, field personnel, the general public, supervisors and shop personnel Test drive vehicles to ensure they are running properly and to find issues to determine what the solution will be Required Job Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Must have basic mechanic abilities and knowledge of basic tools Excellent customer service skills, the ability to communicate professional with clients and support staff Must be willing to learn our systems and practices Preferred Automotive/Shop Experience CDL/Truck Driving Experience Previous experience as a mechanic
